Collision Coverage
Pays to repair your own car after an accident, regardless of fault.
What it actually means
Collision coverage pays for damage to your vehicle from hitting another car or object, no matter who caused the accident. It's typically required if you're financing or leasing a vehicle and is usually dropped once a car's value gets low relative to the premium.
Example: If you hit a guardrail and cause $6,000 in damage to your own car, collision coverage pays for the repair minus your deductible.
